Why does every ask me to double?

  1. The Jailer says:

Every double makes the game worth more. So for example, if you doubled to “2” then the game is worth 2 wins or 2 losses. You can go to 64 (some sites 128) by doubling back and forth. This is important in rooms where you are “rated” meaning that wins against people with a higher rating are worth more. People do this as a way to try to get their score up in a hurry. Imagaine a person who has a better rating than you, that you just beat 64 times. Your rating goes up faster.

Another reason for doubling, is to get you to resign. In the beginning it is simply raising the value. But, as someone gets into a position of advantage, they offer a double so that you will resign without the chance of a comeback. If you say yes, you will stay in the game and have a chance to comeback, but if you lose, you have doubled the impact on your rating.

    I hope this helps.
